Learn to Wake Board

Check out this video on learning to get up on the wake board. I found it to be very helpful!

Here are some Do’s and Don’ts
  • Please ensure that your driver has gotten the slack out of the towline before launching, if you have slack in the line when the boat takes off you can run the risk of severe upper body injuries.
  • Do not stand up too soon when launching, let the boat do the work and pull you out of the water.  If you stand up too soon or pull on your towline, you’re going to hit face first in the water and this is not fun!
  • Always keep your toes up and your heels down. If the front of your board catches the water, you’re going to slam face first in the water and believe me, this is not something you want to try!
  • Check all of your equipment and ensure its in proper working condition.
  • Ensure you have a spotter that can communicate with you and the driver to ensure your safety and the safety of others.
  • Avoid wake boarding in unfamiliar waters, you need to be familiar with your surroundings.  You don’t want to find yourself in waters full of stumps, and other uninviting guests!
  • Don’t be a super star.  You are just learning to wake board, don’t try to accomplish too much too soon.  Learning to balance and turn your board is critical when you are a beginner.
  • Most of all have fun!  Wake boarding is an awesome water sport had by all ages!
